Famous card firm Topps launched a line of 2021 cards for kids today, and the bags of shopping cards are on sale at Target and Walmart. The Garbage Pail Kids (GPK) series will not only provide people with cardboard trading cards, but also add rare code cards to the blockchain that can be redeemed for exclusive GPK (NFT) trading chips on the Wax blockchain.
Blockchain and GPK
A very popular series of trading cards at Topps since the 1980s is the Garbage Pail Kids (GPK) series. Founded in 1938, Topps has been producing trading cards for various sports and leisure activities for decades. Topps also has Bazooka, Ring Pop, Push Pop and Baby Bottle Pop chewing gum candies.
Garbage Pail Kids were created in 1985 and distributed by Topps Trading Card Company. GPK’s work was originally developed by artists John Pound, Tom Bank, Joe Simcoe and Leyron DeJarnette. In 2020, Topps introduced the first iterations of digital GPK on the laundry chain, as mentioned above.
GPK cards have recently regained popularity after making headlines in the 1980s. The first set of original KPG cards from 1985, especially the series of brilliant cards, could fetch thousands of dollars. Since the birth of Bitcoin, chain store technology has transformed not only the financial sector, but also other sectors such as art and collections. Last year, Topps partnered with the wax.io (Wax blockchain) team to launch the first versions of the GPK digital collectors.
According to the Topps website, topps.wdny.io, the chain technology allows collectors to enter a market where they can buy and redeem digital cards. Collectors can] propose and execute transactions, showcase their inventory on social media, and solicit requests from other merchants.

When I joined Topps two years ago, our vice president Tobin Great Post and I discussed chain of custody at length and what that could mean for digital collectibles. Like many others at Topps, we both see the tremendous potential of chain stores.
Since 2020, non-transferable tokens and collectibles based on chains of blocks have been all the rage in the NMT market, and millions of dollars of transactions have been made in the NMT markets.
